An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has been deemed elected after the first count took place in the Mayo count centre in Castlebar.
Kenny’s surplus of 588 will now be redistributed.
The total electorate was 92,958, while the total poll was 64,246. The number of spoiled votes were 600, and so the valid poll was 63,646. The quota of votes necessary for election was therefore set at 12,730.
