BALLINROBE Library is quickly establishing itself as a music venue to rival all others in the west. A former church, the ornate windows provide a stunning backdrop for musicians who have played there.
Following on from the summer success of Live at The Library, music lovers are in for a treat over the festive period as UMAN comes to town bringing his unique brand of uplifting Soul/Gospel.
A sell-out gig for acclaimed musician Mick Flannery, supported by Faraway Martin took place on December 8 at the venue, and now December 21 promises to be another sell-out with tickets going fast.
UMAN has performed at Electric Picnic and on The Late Late Show and will be supported by local musician Kevin May (formerly of The Guggenheim Grotto/Storyman). The Ballinrobe man has penned such classics as ‘Told You So’ and ‘Her Beautiful Ideas’ and is excited to play at this intimate event in his hometown.
Speaking ahead of the gig later this month, Kevin said he was looking forward to playing in Ballinrobe again.
“I’ve played in a lot of unusual venues along the way, bowling alleys, barns, yoga studios, churches, sitting rooms, a Masonic lodge even, but Ballinrobe Library is up there with the best spaces I’ve ever played,” he said.
The gig takes place at 7.30pm and tickets are available on Eventbrite, in Ballinrobe Library or from Martin Murphy Newsagent on Main Street in Ballinrobe.
