The Achill International Harp Festival returns for its third year this October Bank Holiday Weekend, October 26-29. An action-packed weekend is in store with something for everyone.
A host of international and Irish artists will provide tuition at harp workshops and workshops for all instruments. If dancing is your thing, there will be sean-nós, céilí and two-hand-dance workshops. For the youngest of festival goers there will be a very special Guaglaí Gug music and song workshop.
The afternoon and night-time concerts will give audiences an opportunity to hear some of the finest exponents of the harp and other traditional instruments. Along with the best of Irish musicians, guest artists include musicians from Spain’s Galicia region, as well as Estonia and Venezuela.
For those who want to hear music until the early hours, a late night Live Festival Club will be in full swing after the concerts on Friday and Saturday night, while the Sunday-night concert will be followed by a céilí.
There will also be walks, talks, recitals and a screening of the film ‘Iomramh an Chamino’, as well as an opportunity to make your very own 26-string Achill Harp at the festival’s harp-making workshop.
