Noriana Kennedy, Nicola Joyce and Noelie McDonnell will join for a night of Irish and American folk at The Linenhall
Snuggle up to folk for Valentine’s
Folk singer Noriana Kennedy will be joined by fellow musicians Nicola Joyce and Noelie McDonnell for a great night of Irish and American folk music at The Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, tonight, Tuesday, February 14, at 8pm. Noriana Kennedy, famous both as a singer and a musician in Galway for over five years, is beginning to generate a buzz nationally with her debut album ‘Ebb ‘n’ Flow’. “Exquisite phrasing and a songbook as wide as a Southern porch,” enthused one Irish Times reviewer, and more lavish praise followed. Noriana’s musical career began in 2005 as lead singer of Irish contemporary trad band NΡbac. The five-piece performed regularly in Ireland’s well known folk venues and at music festivals and their spirited performances saw them tour in Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Denmark. ‘Ebb ‘n’ Flow’ is a fresh exploration of the links old between Irish and Appalachian folk music, her pristine voice taking the audience from cruel wars to kind love, from New England to Waterford, and a thousand heartworn places in between. Noriana’s stage partners – percussionist/mandolin player and harmony singer Nicola Joyce and singer/songwriter Noelie McDonnell – are both also from Galway. Together, the three will weave a beguiling tapestry of folk music from near and far. What better way to spend Valentine’s night out?
