In Mayo soccer circles at the weekend, the Super and Premier Cup quarter finals caught the attention as some interesting clashes were played out. Here, we've created a summary of all the encounters that took place.
Super League
The only Super League game saw Castlebar Celtic keep their winning run going as they overcame Conn Rangers 3-0. Goals from Fionn Mahon, Eoghan Hughes and Luke Kelly secured the points for the unbeaten Hoops as they reduced the cap on leaders, Westport United.
Super Cup
Castlebar Celtic overcame Glenhest Rovers 4-0 in Beltra as Mark Cunningham’s brace was to the fore for the Hoops. Ballyheane ran out convincing 4-0 victors over Ballyhaunis with Dan Purcell, Dylan Stevenson, Ben Edeh and Alan Hegarty as Ballyglass conceded to Westport United. Ballinrobe’s clash with Crossmolina was postponed.

Premier Division
In the only encounter in the premier division, Martin Deacy’s goal was enough to see Crossmolina take the points against bottom of the table Kilmore in a local clash.
Premier Cup
Swinford edged Ballina Town B 2-1 with goals coming from Aidan Dunleavy and Jack Murphy as they came from behind to progress. Snugboro were 3-0 up at half time as Claremorris B nearly levelled it but the visitors edged out a 3-2 victory in game fashion. Straide & Foxford got past Fahy Rovers B 3-0 on their travels as Brandon Mc Ging’s hat trick for Achill Rovers was crucial as they conquered Westport United C to see them join Swinford, Snugboro and Straide & Foxford in the last four.
League Two
Ballinrobe B travelled to play Crossmolina B as the visitors won 3-0. Glenhest Rovers B had a comfortable win over Conn Rangers C as the hosts cantered to a 8-0 victory. Promotion challenging Castlebar Town defeated Manulla B 4-1 with Thomas Mc Ging securing a brace as Fahy Rovers B overcame Westport United C in a local meeting. Liam Foy’s brace was important for the men in black and white.
This coming weekend will see a full fixture of league clashes as the business end of the season heats up.
