ATU Mayo staff welcoming the six new Adjunct Lecturers to the university.
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) held a reception marking the appointment of six new adjunct lecturers to the ATU Mayo Department of Nursing, Health Sciences and Integrated Care this week.
The posts, which will benefit students studying on a range of ATU nursing and health care programmes, were developed in partnership with the HSE and Health Service Providers. ATU’s Academic Council formally approved the posts in November.
ATU President Dr Orla Flynn welcomed the new Adjunct Lecturers to the university. They are: Maria Mc Goldrick, HSE Mayo Mental Health Services, Adjunct Lecturer, Service User Engagement, Nursing; Donna Lynott, Mayo Hospice, Adjunct Lecturer, Palliative Care, Nursing; Helen Moran, HSE Mayo University Hospital (MUH), Adjunct Lecturer, Cardiac Care, Nursing; Mairead Burke, HSE MUH,, Adjunct Lecturer, Older persons care, Nursing; Thara Johnston, HSE MUH, Adjunct Lecturer, Infection Control, Nursing; and Niamh O' Connor, HSE Mayo Mental Health Services, Adjunct Lecturer, Memory Assessment, Nursing.
Dr Christina Larkin, Head of the Department of Nursing, Health Sciences and Integrated Care, said: “The appointment of these new adjunct lecturers demonstrates our ongoing commitment to recognising and engaging with clinical excellence. These positions are the result of extensive partnership engagement and are a recognition of the importance of clinical expertise in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our programmes.”
Dr Justin Kerr, Vice President Mayo Campus and Head of School Health Science, Wellbeing and Society, added: “This is an important natural next step in our partnership with Health Service providers and we look forward to working closely and to supporting clinical research in the specialist areas each adjunct is appointed from. We are delighted to have these clinicians working with us and look forward to a productive partnership going forward.”
