The show combines the traditional with the thoughtful, and the emotional with the challenging

Local Westport musician Brian Duffy to play a magical set at Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar.

In collaboration with the Mayo Concert Orchestra, and Conductor and Musical Director Kathy Fahey, are set to dazzle audiences with a night of music on Friday, February 16.

Having recently sold out in his native Westport, the show now comes to the county town of Castlebar and promises to be a very special event.

Speaking on the upcoming collaborating with Kathy Fahey and the Mayo Concert Orchestra, he described his music being orchestrated as ‘an absolute dream’. He said, ‘it brings so many additional layers and dimensions to this work, offering it a richness and depth which I feel is exquisitely unique and special’.

Mr Duffy has lived and travelled abroad, singing, playing guitar, writing and performing his music. He spent eight years in north-western Spain, which infused his traditional Irish and folk roots with an array of Celtic music, alongside Latin themes.

The past 18 months have been particularly busy for the singer/songwriter since the September 2022 launch of his third album 'The Walk' in the Yard Bar at Westport's famous Matt Molloy's.

Duffy’s songs embrace many aspects of the human condition; none more so than 'Baby Don't You Cry', a beautiful song written about his young daughter.

Last July, the natural performer featured on and co-wrote 'The Narrowback', a vibrant examination of Irish immigration, with Wicklow based musician/producer Glen Brady.

Now, this collaboration with the Mayo Concert Orchestra brings his work to a wider audience.

An accomplished musician in his own right with a particular focus on folk and traditional, the influence of conductor Kathy Fahey and the Orchestra has enhanced and developed his work.

Information on how to get tickets is available on Brian Duffy's website.
