MAYO footballer Fiona McHale has added 'Dr' to her title after earning a PhD from the University of Limerick.
The Tipperary-based Carnacon footballer was honored after completing a doctorate focusing on physical activity in adolescents.
McHale teaches Sport and Recreation in Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board's College of FET. She has also previously coached Carnacon underage teams, the University of Limerick ladies team, and the Claremorris men's Gaelic football team.
The 35-year-old recently lined at full-forward for the Mayo senior ladies against Meath, 20 years after she first joined up with the seniors in 2004.
She is among one of over 1,900 students being conferred across five ceremonies at University of Limerick this week.
