Ruth Wilson and Daryl McCormack star in The Woman in the Wall.
Joe Murtagh’s BBC drama ‘The Woman in the Wall’, which was partly filmed in County Mayo, is set to begin streaming this week.
Ruth Wilson and Daryl McCormack star in the drama, a fictional story inspired by the very real scandal surrounding Ireland's Magdalene Laundries, where thousands of women and girls were abused. The show follows Lorna Brady’s trauma, years after surviving such an institution and its grievous abuse. The mystery begins when Lorna wakes up to find a corpse in her house – the question is: is she the killer?
The Woman in the Wall is written by Joe Murtagh (Gangs of London), while Harry Wootliff (His Dark Materials) and Rachna Suri (The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself) directed. Wilson has recently finished an acclaimed run on BBC drama ‘His Dark Materials’, also directed by Harry Wootliff, while McCormack is fresh off his BAFTA nomination for raunchy comedy ‘Good Luck to You, Leo Grande’.
The psychological and emotional gothic thriller was filmed in both Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland, particularly, county Mayo.
The show was co-produced with US network-turned-streamer Showtime, and will begin streaming this Friday, January 19 on Paramount+.
