Inviting new season revealed by the Linenhall in Castlebar

Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O'Reilly will play the Linenhall on Saturday, January 20.

A programme rich in music, comedy and theatre, has been carefully crafted by the Linenhall Arts Centre team in Castlebar, resulting in an exciting start to 2024 for local audiences.

On January 20, Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O'Reilly showcase the fruits of their second album 'The Beautiful Road', a soulful blend of folk and traditional in an ambient crossover. Founding member and lead vocalist of Kíla, Ó Snodaigh is a songwriter, composer, musician and poet. Myles O'Reilly, musician and prolific video and filmmaker, has worked with artists such as Lisa Hannigan, Glen Hansard, Villagers and James Vincent McMorrow. Together, their distinctive sound and devoted friendship make for a truly magic live show.

Andy Irvine brings his sensational repertoire of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dance tunes and a compelling canon of his own self-penned songs to the Linenhall on February 2, following an extensive tour of Australia. Esteemed solo artist, and member of legendary Irish groups such as Planxty, Patrick Street and more recently Mozaik, Irvine’s music prowess even encompasses that of the bouzouki.

To the stage, wonders await. Set in the near future, step into a parallel universe created by Little John Nee on February 7 for a midweek escape at ‘Nettle Horse’, a transformative theatrical odyssey weaving storytelling, song, and satire.

The internationally acclaimed, Olivier award winning dream team of Fishamble and Pat Kinevane, return to the Linenhall with their fifth solo theatre collaboration on Wednesday, February 21. ‘King’ tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his Granny Bee Baw’s hero, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, who only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator.

Best known for hit shows 'King Gary', 'The Curse', 'Murder In Successville', 'Live At The Apollo' and his hugely popular podcast 'Wolf and Owl' with Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Davis embarks on his biggest tour yet, with new show ‘Underdog’. On Saturday, February 17 join Davis as he explores life as the longshot, on this first night of electric live comedy in 2024.

Additional upcoming performances include ‘Solas Quartet’ on January 17 for fans of the classical genre. Experience choral bliss with ‘Cill Aodáin Choral Society’, the community based choir from Kiltimagh and surrounds, with special guest tenor Cathal Gavin on January 10 and 11.
