Bus Éireann has today announced significantly enhanced services and timetables on Route 458, Ballina to Enniskillen, which will come into effect on Sunday, December 17.
The significantly enhanced Route 458 is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.
Route 458 will offer increased frequency throughout the day, providing eight daily round trips Monday to Saturday and expanded hours of operation with an earlier departure from Sligo at 6.40am and later departure at 12.23am. The improved service will offer passengers seven return trips on a Sunday while providing increased connectivity with ATU Sligo.
Bus Éireann Route 458 will serve Enniskillen, Letterbreen, Belcoo, Blacklion, Loughtan House, Glenfarne, Big Bog Cross, Blackpark Cross, Manorhamilton, Shanvas Cross, Glencar Cross, ATU Sligo, Sligo, Sligo Bus station, Ballrdrohid, Ballissodare, Beltra, Dromard, Skreen, Farniharpy, Templeboy, Dunowla Cross, Domore West, Killeenduff, Easkey, Finod Bridge, Rathlee, Quigabar School, Kilglass, Enniscrone, Howley’s Cross, Harrisons Cross, Creggs Road Cross and Ballina.
“Bus Éireann is delighted to introduce these significant enhancements to Route 458, Ballina to Enniskillen, increasing the daily service to eight round trips, Monday to Saturday, and eight round trips on a Sunday,” said Brian Connolly, Bus Éireann, Senior Operations Manager, West.
“Thanks to the National Transport Authority, through the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, we have added almost 1.8 million kilometres to our network this month, creating over 58 new jobs. Demand for our services in the West is higher now than pre-pandemic, passenger numbers nationally are 20 to 30 percent higher than they were in 2019, this enhanced service will enable us to connect our growing number of customers with who and what matters to them.”
