Ballinrobe are one game away from a Mayo Intermediate title after seeing off the challenge of Castlebar Mitchels B with a solid 60-minute semi-final display.

Peter Ford’s men were on top in every department and kicked some lovely scores to conjure a result that means they will meet John Reilly’s Kilmeena in the decider of the Mayo Intermediate Football Championship.

Led by the attacking duo of Kevin Quinn and Darren McDonnell – who kicked 0-10 between them - Ballinrobe were never in serious trouble in this encounter.

Solid displays at the back and an industrious display from midfielder James Murphy ensured that Mitchels never gained any serious foothold during the game.

The South Mayo men kicked some lovely scores in a first half that ended 0-7 0-4 in their favour.

Mitchels inability to win the dirty ball inevitably caught up with them as Ballinrobe pulled away with a class goal from Joe Burke in the 41st minute.

From there on, the Robesiders were unlikely to be caught.

Not even a goal from Mitchels sub’ Luke Ruddy could compensate for Mitchels distinct lack of firepower versus a Ballinrobe forward line that was a constant nuisance.

The county final now sets up a rematch of last year’s quarter-final, where then reigning Mayo Junior champions Kilmeena knocked out Ballinrobe.

There will be a full report plus reaction from Ballinrobe captain Kevin Quinn in Tuesday’s print edition of The Mayo News.
