WHILE most businesspeople are counting the pennies and finding ways of cutting back, one Claremorris couple have made a gesture of true generosity to a worthy local organisation.
One of the most successful organisations in the town, Claremorris No Name Club, has acquired a new home – thanks to the donation of a building by local business couple, James and Patricia Kean.
James is the President of Claremorris Chamber of Commerce and a well-known supporter of everything of note in the town. He is the owner of Kean’s Arro, situated at Mount Street, Claremorris and is an avowed admirer of the No Name Club.
James and Patricia have donated their old premises, adjacent to their Arro premises, free of charge for a three-year period.
The 20,000m building will be transformed into a house with a games room, coffee and tea-making facilities, a TV room and meeting room, amongst other things. The building will undergo a facelift with the intention of being handed over to the No Name club in January.
“I’m a great admirer of the No Name Club and the fine people that are attached to it. They deserve great praise and commendation for their dedication to the youth of Claremorris. My own children were involved in the No Name Club and they definitely got a lot out of it. We are happy to give something back, especially to something as good as the No Name Club,” said James.
A spokesperson for Claremorris No Name Club said they were very thankful to James and Patricia Kean for their great show of kindness and generosity. The spokesperson said: “In a period when we only hear of doom and gloom on a daily basis, this show of kindness and generosity should never be forgotten by the people of Claremorris and its hinterland. The good that will come out of this is incalculable and the gesture speaks volumes about the Kean family.”
