Twenty-five-year-old Yvonne Moran, a native of Rosturk, Mulranny, sustained serious injuries in the incident on Sunday evening, which happened around one mile from her home. Ms Moran was a member of An Garda Síochána, stationed at Ballymote, Co Sligo, and is survived by her father Kevin, mother Barbara, brothers Ciarán and Thomas and her sister Katrina. Her father – who was driving the car – received serious injuries and was taken to MGH where his condition was yesterday described as critical but stable. The driver of the other car, a French national, was also brought to hospital, but escaped very serious injury in the incident. Gardaí in Westport are looking for information and witnesses to the collision, which occurred on the main Newport to Mulranny road around 9.30pm on Sunday evening.
