A film on the life and times of Admiral William Brown looks set for the silver screen later this year.
Foxford story destined for silver screen
A FILM on the life and times of Foxford’s Admiral William Brown, founder of the Argentine Navy, is set to hit the big screen. President of the Brown Society, JJ O’Hara, revealed on Friday that the wheels are now in motion for a full-length movie documenting the hero’s Mayo connections. “We were looking for a film-maker to take the project to the next level and we now have one of the best on board. That’s all I can say on it at the minute but we are all looking forward to this step of the story,” he told the large attendance at his official civic reception at the weekend. RTÉ has already commissioned a full-scale documentary, which will be completed with coverage of a trip to Philadelphia next week. “It took a bit of getting used to but we are now looking forward to seeing the final cut,” he said. The documentary is scheduled for broadcast in the coming year.
