New traffic management system for Féile na Tuaithe

FESTIVAL-goers at Féile na Tuaithe can look forward to a freeflow traffic situation in and around the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life – at Turlough Park this weekend.
The unprecedented attendance at last year’s event led to some traffic congestion but both the Gardaí and Mayo County Council have been working closely with the museum to ensure easy access this time around. In addition to the new road layout, a shuttle bus will run every half an hour from both Ballyvary (€2 single/€4 return) and Castlebar (€4 single/€6 return) from 11.30am to 4pm on both days.
The Castlebar bus will depart from the Stephen Garvey Way bus stop, which is just opposite the roundabout in front of the old Aldi store, while the additional parking is in Turlough village itself, very close to the museum gates.
“We are very pleased with the new arrangements, which will include a one-way system around Turlough village,” said Bernie Byron, Marketing Executive with the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life. “Coupled with additional parking availability and the new shuttle bus, this should lead to easy access for everyone. We would like to thank An Garda Síochána and Mayo County Council for their co-operation in finalising these arrangements.”
The popular early summer festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, from 12 noon until 5pm each day. Admission and all attractions and activities are free.
