Collision between a car and truck took place along the N60 at Facefield, Claremorris

GARDAÍ are seeking the assistance of the public in investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the N60 which claimed the lives of two men aged in their 20s.
The collision between a car and an articulated lorry took place at approximately 11.50pm on Wednesday night at Facefield, Claremorris on the Balla to Claremorris road, close to the old Beaten Path pub.
Both occupants of the car, two men in their 20s, were both pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the truck, who is a male in his 30s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital as a precaution. The names of the men have yet to be released but it is believed they are from the east Mayo area.
The bodies of the two men were taken to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital where post-mortems are due to be take place.
A section of the N60 was closed on Thursday morning to allow Garda Forensic Collision investigators conduct their examination of the scene and local diversions were put in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make this available to them.
