Few tickets remain for Westport Ball this Saturday
Neill O’Neill
The second annual Westport Town Council Cathaoirleach’s Ball will take place in Hotel Westport on Saturday next, February 9. The inaugural Cathaoirleach’s Ball, which was hosted by Cllr Tereasa McGuire in February 2007, was a resounding success and this year the ball will once again feature the presentation of the Cathaoirleach’s Awards – for 2007/2008. Apart from being an opportunity to recognise and reward the endeavours of those who work tirelessly in the community, the occasion also provides a chance to raise funds for worthy local charities. The chosen beneficiaries this year are the Westport Branch of St Vincent de Paul and the Western Alzheimer’s Foundation. Tickets are €80 each and formal dress is requested. A limited number of tickets are still available and may be obtained from any of the following: Cllr Declan Dever, Cathaoirleach, Westport Town Council, 087 6731911; Westport Town Council, Civic Offices, Altamont Street, 098 50400 and Hotel Westport, 098 25122.
