Over €30,000 has been raised online to fly a Ballina man home after he was hit by a bus in Budapest

A GoFundMe online campaign has raised over €30,000 to fly a critically injured Ballina man home from Budapest.
Michael Cuffe received critical injuries on Friday, April 13 after he was hit by a bus in the Hungarian capital. Following the accident, Michael’s sister Naomi set up a GoFundMe page - ‘Fly Michael Cuffe Home’ - in order to raise money to help pay for an air ambulances to fly her brother home.
Michael sustained numerous fractures and breaks, including his skull, face, neck, collarbone, spine and leg. Mr Cuffe underwent surgery in Budapest and it is understood the prognosis is positive following an extensive recovery.
Michael’s sister set up the page six days ago and the page had raised €34,660 at the time of going to print, nearly €10,000 over its initial target. That figure was raised by a total of 748 people.
