Mayo duo play for the boys in green

MAYO pair Conor Tee and Luke McNicholas both played for the Republic of Ireland Under-18 side in friendly games against Romania last week.
Tee, who has strong roots in Bangor-Erris, and Belcarra native McNicholas both started a game each in the two friendlies played in Dublin.
On Sunday, March 25 last Tee made his Irish debut in style, scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 win at Home Farm.
Tee is on the books of Leicester City. His mother Maureen (nee Deane) is from Bangor Erris while father Spencer is from Northampton. The family live in Northampton but Conor has always identified as Irish.
His grandmother Eileen Deane, from Main Street, Bangor, was in attendance, proudly watching her grandson score on his debut as were Conor’s uncles and cousins.
He actually qualifies to play for Ireland through his granny as his mother was born in England just before the family moved home.
Luke McNicholas started in goal for Ireland on Tuesday last in their 1-0 defeat to Romania.
A former Manulla player, he is now on the books of Sligo Rovers.
A son of Martina and Christy McNicholas, Luke was the first baby born in Mayo in the new millennium, just five hours into the New Year in 2000.
His father Christy was a goalkeeper before him, playing in goal for Balla in Gaelic football and Ballyvary Blue Bombers in soccer.
Tuesday was not his debut for Ireland, having played in goal for two games in February.
