WHETHER it was a tired triathlete, a tourist buying a 99 ice-cream or a regular local purchasing his Saturday newspaper, the identity of last Saturday’s Lotto winner at The Harbour Store, The Quay, Westport, still remains a mystery. Proprietor, Christine Harrington is not speculating on who the lucky person may be but, naturally, is delighted that her shop is proving to be a lucky one for the second time in the last ten months.
“We are having great fun with lots of our regular customers coming in and claiming their numbers came up but they happen to have forgotten the winning ticket,” Ms Harrington told The Mayo News yesterday.
When asked if she had any idea of the identity of the winner, she said: “We haven’t a clue but on a given Saturday our customer ratio is usually 50 percent visitors and 50 percent locals. Because of the triathlon last Saturday there were quite a few supporters and stewards, as well as all the participants, so that ratio would have changed, adding further intrigue to the identity of the winner.”
She said the fact that this win was circa ten times bigger than the win last September (€54,000), they hoped that third time lucky would be the jackpot.
Ms Harrington urged all customers who did the Lotto at their shop last Saturday to check their tickets. She added: “It seems the Harbour Store at the Quay in Westport could be Mayo’s new lucky Lotto location.”

Winning Numbers
The winning Lotto Plus 1 numbers on Saturday night last were 11, 16, 17, 20, 40, 45 and the bonus number was 37.
