FOOTBALL The Westport forward would invite Denis O’Brien, David Brailsford, David Gill to his dinner party.
Name: Lewis Cawley
Club: Westport
Age: 26
Occupation: Accountant
Tell us something about yourself we don’t know?
I was once on a plane in Atlanta whose wing caught fire shortly after take-off.
A night in, or a big night out?
Big night out.
What’s your favourite TV show?
Entourage.
Name three things that are always in your fridge?
Steak, spinach and rolo yoghurts.
Which three guests would you invite to your dinner party?
Denis O’Brien, David Brailsford, David Gill. You never know what you might learn!
Who’s your ideal date?
Ariana Grande – I hear she has road-frontage.
What’s been your worst holiday?
My family trips to France as a child would be up there. Great when we arrived, but seven-hour car journeys with your siblings would drive anyone demented.
What makes you nervous?
Seeing Shane Scott, in Ballinrobe, on the 14-yard line, in front of goal, taking a free. Missed calls from Damien Loftus. Aeroplanes.
Biggest messers in the Westport dressing-room?
Liam ‘Tanto’ Staunton is never far from a bit of trouble at the moment, but I’d expect Colm Moran to take his title in the coming years.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
Football blitzes.
What’s your most prized possession?
My Rice College jerseys – great times.
Most under-rated players in Mayo club football?
Keelan Dever (Westport). He’s been one of our most consistent players this year and has the pace and physicality to mark anyone. I also think Ray O’Malley (Castlebar) is a very solid defender.
When was the last time you cried?
When Tom ‘TR’ Reynolds recently beat me at golf after two years of trying. Following a wayward drive on the 17th, his ball was suspiciously ‘found’ and he would go on to win the hole. He later chose to play an iron off the 18th tee, which tells you all you need to know about the man.
Worst thing about being a Westport footballer?
Kevin Keane ringing you in February to see why you’re not back training like everyone else and complaining you’ve no commitment. Relax, Keaner!
Best thing about being a Westport footballer?
The craic with the lads.
Best advice you ever got?
“Do things now that your future self will thank you for”.
Three things you’d bring to a desert island?
Suncream, sunglasses and a Wilson volleyball.
Favourite Mayo county footballer?
Tom Parsons – my heart-rate tends to reduce when he has the ball. Covers a lot of ground and rarely gives the ball away.
Describe yourself in one word?
Covie.
