Tommy to play Ballintubber Abbey

Tommy Fleming will perform two special Christmas concerts at the world-renowned Ballintubber Abbey next month

Tommy Fleming is returning to his native west of Ireland for two very special Christmas concerts at the world renowned Ballintubber Abbey on December 10 and 11. This concert promises to be a musical experience featuring Tommy’s world class band as they perform some of his biggest hits and special Christmas songs.
Tommy’s biggest success was the album ‘Voice of Hope’, which was recorded at the Knock basilica, has been re-released for its 10th anniversary and is on sale in all music outlets the release features a special bonus DVD on the making of Voice of Hope which will also be broadcast on TV3 at 10pm on December 15.
Many remember the night, December 12, 2004, as an incredibly moving and emotional occasion brought together by many elements but none more than the amazing venue – the world famous Knock Basilica. Tommy, together with his full band, the Cork Pops Orchestra, the Cill Aodain Choral Society and an audience of 5,000 people, brought the Basilica to life.
The Basilica is not your normal concert venue, and therefore the set had to be built from scratch – the set, the stage, sound and lighting all had to be brought in and assembled on site. It took four days to assemble. The Basilica sold out weeks in advance of the show.
While Tommy’s music may be difficult to classify, fans use such words as “deeply emotional, romantic and sincere” to describe the feelings it evokes. One review described his music as falling into a genre of symphonic pop that still awaits a name. Tommy’s unique talent has brought him worldwide recognition with several sell-out tours in Ireland, the UK, the US, Australia and Japan and he is now critically acclaimed to be one of the world’s finest singers of his generation.

Tickets for Tommy Fleming’s Christmas concerts in Ballintubber Abbey on December 10 and 11 are available from Downtown Records, Murphy’s Newsagents Ballinrobe, Ballintubber Abbey or 087 2448520.
