MAYO and Dublin fans will join together on Sunday next to pay tribute to the late Darragh Doherty.
The 19-year-old former Mayo minor lost his life in a car accident just outside Ballinrobe on Sunday night.
Doherty wore the number 13 jersey in the All-Ireland minor final in 2013, during which he scored 1-02 to help his team claim the Tom Markham Cup against Tyrone.
Former Mayo footballer David Brady suggested via Twitter last night (Tuesday) that as a mark of respect for the talented Kilmaine footballer, Dublin and Mayo fans at Croke Park on Sunday next should rise to their feet in the thirteenth minute of play and applaud for 13 seconds.
The tribute idea has been welcomed wholeheartedly by both Mayo and Dublin supporters, and it has been widely shared on social media.
David Doherty, brother of Darragh, tweeted his appreciation for the idea today saying ‘Darragh will love it’.
