TWENTY years on from the staging of musical film ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ in Ballinrobe Community School, the school’s transition year students will take to the stage this week for the twentieth anniversary of the much-loved musical.
And to celebrate the anniversary, those who starred in the 1994 show will receive half price admission on the opening night, Thursday, December 11.
Under the expert guidance of Director Fionnuala Dooley and Musical Director Aisling Murphy, over 90 transition year students have been perfecting their dance moves ahead of the show’s opening night.  The director and musical director say the show promises to be a ‘fun filled entertaining evening with great slapstick comedy’.
Set in 1850s Oregon, Adam (David Ryan) sets out to find himself a wife to look after him and his six brothers. He meets Milly played by Sarah Quinn, a local waitress and they rush into marriage.
Upon returning back to Adam’s remote ranch in the mountains Milly is horrified to find that she now not only has one man to cook and clean for, but seven! She decides to reform these ill mannered brothers and change their ways, eventually inciting them to find girls of their own. The brothers in the show are played by Tom Quinn, SeΡn Birch, Liam Hughes, Darragh McGovern, Oliver Lydon and Lewis Thacker. The brides are played by Anna Campbell, Niamh Delaney, Ciara Kilcoyne, Erin Gapper, Ella Walkden and Orla Dunleavy. The show runs from Thursday, December 11 to Saturday, December 13 in the school’s auditorium. Tickets are €10 for adults and €5 for students and OAPs.
