NO stone will be left unturned in solving the murder of 28 year old Owen Maughan who was shot in broad daylight at a busy Castlebar petrol station on December 18 last.
Supt Pat Diskin of Castlebar Garda Station told The Mayo News that ‘resources won’t be spared in relation to this heinous crime’.
A considerable amount of witnesses have already been interviewed by gardaí, according to the Superintendent. However gardaí are still appealing for people with any information to come forward.
Gardaí are also appealing for people with any information in relation to a graphite grey BMW 330 estate car seen on December 18, the day of the fatal shooting or in the days after the murder.
Supt Diskin thanked people who have came forward with information in relation to the shooting and appealed to anyone who may have any further information to contact gardaí in confidence.
Mr Maughan was shot three times at the busy Top Oil filling station in Moneen, Castlebar in broad daylight on December 18 last and later died from his injuries at Mayo General Hospital.
He was the third member of his immediate family to be shot this year in Castlebar and the first to die from his injuries. Another member of his immediate family was shot at the same location in January of this year. All three attacks are believed to be related to an ongoing feud between some members of the Maughan family and a Ballina-based family.
Mr Maughan was buried in Castlebar New Cemetery on Saturday, December 21 last after Funeral Mass in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
People with information can contact Castlebar Garda Station on 094 90 22222 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.
