Mayo manager James Horan looks set to pick an unchanged team for the first time for next Sunday’s Connacht final.
Horan set to keep the faith
No changes expected in team for Connacht Final showdown

MAYO manager James Horan looks set to pick the same starting 15 for two consecutive games for the first time since his appointment for next Sunday’s Connacht SFC Final. The team to play Roscommon is due to be named tomorrow (Wednesday) and Horan is expected to keep faith with the side that beat Galway in last month’s semi-final. The Mayo squad spent a large part of last weekend at McHale Park, Castlebar and played a very competitive ‘A’ v ‘B’ match on Sunday afternoon. Ballina midfielder Ronan McGarrity played no part in that final trial game due to a leg injury. However, he is expected to be fit to take his place on the substitute’s bench next weekend. Trevor Howley, who has been sidelined with a knee injury for the last three weeks, did get some game-time though and will also be hoping to force his way into the replacements’ list. Meanwhile, Castlebar’s Barry Moran was also recalled to training by the Mayo manager last week. The versatile Mitchels player has been in impressive form recently for his club and could be in line for a place in the Mayo squad next weekend. Speaking to The Mayo News, James Horan admitted that he would be asking his team to stick to their tried-and-trusted approach next Sunday. “Every game we play we go out to work as hard as we can,“ he said. “We’re looking at working hard for every ball, and keeping that going throughout the game, whether we’re up or down. That’s what we’re looking to do, and getting some consistency into our game. “It’s two teams that aren’t setting the world alight, but looking to do well, and it should be a competitive and exciting game.” Roscommon manager Fergal O’Donnell’s only injury concern this week is corner-back Stephen Ormsby who is suffering from a hamstring problem. The Connacht GAA Council are expecting a crowd of over 30,000 people to be in Hyde Park next Sunday, and are advising anybody who has not yet bought tickets to do so immediately in order to avoid disappointment. More ticket details are available on www.connachtgaa.ie
