THREE more managerial appointments were made by Mayo senior clubs last week with two former county footballers being ratified for high-profile senior jobs. Westport GAA club confirmed that ex-Mayo and Galway defender TomΡs Tierney would be their new manager, taking over from Martin Connolly and Shane Conway. Tierney, who played 17 times for Mayo, winning one Connacht championship medal in 1993, will be joined by Ray McNamara who will be the team trainer. A selector will also be appointed in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Mayo over-40s star Ger Butler is the new manager of the Shrule/Glencorrib footballers. The Cahermaculick native succeeds Kenneth Mortimer who was in charge for one season. Elsewhere, Claremorris have appointed Brendan French as their new manager. He will be assisted by Anthony Joyce and Brendan Fitzpatrick. The trio have previously worked together with underage teams in the club in recent years.
