Mayo schools 100 per cent record

Two Mayo schools send all their students on to third level

Two Mayo Gaeltacht schools have a 100 per cent record when it comes to sending their pupils to college while 97 per cent of St Gerald’s College’s 103 Leaving Cert pupils went onto third level education.
All the Leaving Cert students from Scoil Damhnait in Achill and ColΡiste Muire in Tourmakeady went onto third level education according to an Irish Times Special Education Report on feeder schools. There were 19 students who completed the 2010 Leaving Cert in Scoil Acla with the majority going to study in NUI Galway and GMIT. In ColΡiste Muire, 14 students completed the Leaving Cert with GMIT and IT Sligo the two most popular colleges amongst the students.
The next highest school in Mayo was St Gerald’s College in Castlebar with 97 per cent of the 103 strong class going onto third level, with NUI Galway the most popular choice amongst the students. The next highest Mayo schools in the feeder list were the Sacred Heart School in Westport and Ballyhaunis Community School both on 94 per cent.
