WHERE ARE WE NOW? Lie of the land after two counts in Mayo

Four candidates out of 16 have been eliminated with Rose Conway-Walsh edging closer to the quota

The count continues in the TF Royal Theatre in the Mayo constituency

Count three is underway in the TF Royal Theatre in the Mayo constituency

After two counts, no candidate has yet been elected but incumbent Sinn Féín TD Rose Conway-Walsh is in poll position to be the first to reach the quota of 11,812.

The votes of Green Party's Boxty Ó Conaill and Joe Daly of People Before Profit are currently being distributed at the count centre in the TF Royal Theatre after they were both eliminated following the second count.

Rose Conway-Walsh is expected to pick up the majority of their combined vote of 2,135 but will probably have to wait until the fourth or fifth count to be elected.

Sitting TDs Alan Dillon (FG) and Dara Calleary (FF) will have to be patient and play a waiting game before they are elected while up to five other candidates are in a potential position to win the last two seats.

Fine Gael candidates Mark Duffy and Keira Keogh as well as Fianna Fáil's Lisa Chambers are next in line but Independent Patsy O'Brien and Aontú's Paul Lawless are confident of overtaking them.

The results of the third count is expected to eliminate Independent Ireland candidate Chris Maxwell who at the moment has 2,555 votes after two counts.
