Donegal supporters will have to act fast to secure a ticket for the side’s top-of-the-table NFL Division 1 clash with Mayo in Letterkenny on Sunday week.
With both counties' season ticket allocation close to the 7,000 mark, and with O’Donnell Park’s current capacity logged at 8,500, those looking to purchase tickets on general sale will need to be quick.
An inspection of the venue will be carried out towards the end of the week with the Donegal board and the St Eunan’s club hoping to see the official capacity figure increased.
Mayo’s own season ticket count sits at the maximum threshold of 3,500 while Donegal Live understands that Donegal’s falls just shy of that at 3,452.
That would leave in-and-around just 1,500 tickets on general sale to the public.
The Dr James McDaid Stand in Letterkenny seats 2,400 supporters with the remaining three sides of the ground for standing.
The limited tickets that are available can be snapped up now online at Ticketmaster or through the SuperValu and Centra in-store portals.
Meanwhile, looking ahead to that clash with Andy Moran’s outfit, Donegal boss McGuinness says he expects another brilliant atmosphere in Letterkenny as the top two in the Division 1 standings go head to head.
Donegal saw off Kerry at a packed Fr Tierney Park, Ballyshannon, on Sunday and if McGuinness’ side can see off the visitors to Letterkenny on Sunday week, it would as good as secure their top-flight status.
But that same incentive is also there for the Connacht men.
“There is serious energy with Mayo right now. And with the belief they have from the start they’ve made, that makes them a very dangerous animal.
“They have their two midfielders, but they have a midfielder at ten and at 14 as well. They have a lot of big and mobile players.
"Aidan O’Shea is playing really well. Jack Carney and Jordan Flynn are in that same vein. So they have a lot of size and physicality.
“We’ll have to take a good look at all of that now in between and get ready for the challenge that’s in front of us”.
