LATEST: Mayo LGFA make Championship finals decision as Storm Amy rages

The Mayo LGFA Intermediate Club Championship Final between Claremorris and MacHale Rovers and the Junior final between Swinford-Killasser and Parke-Keelogues-Crimlin will excite fans

Mayo LGFA have released a statement clarifying the situation surrounding the Intermediate and Junior Championship finals.

The Intermediate decider between Claremorris and MacHale Rovers and the Junior tie between Swinford-Killasser and Parke-KC were due to take place tomorrow (Saturday, October 4). However, Storm Amy plunged those plans into doubt.

The inclement weather conditions have torn up the sports schedule across the county. Now, the LGFA County Board have confirmed that the pair of finals will now be played on Sunday in MacHale Park as opposed to Saturday.

The Junior final will throw in at 12 noon, while the Intermediate decider is pencilled in for 2 pm.

"The move to Sunday provides greater scope to assess the impact of Storm Amy and ensure conditions are safe for players, officials, and supporters," the statement read.

"Mayo LGFA stresses that all fixtures remain subject to review in the coming hours, particularly in light of flooding and road closures across the county. Player and supporter welfare will remain the top priority."

The ties will now be the sole Gaelic Games action in the county for the weekend after Mayo GAA took the decision to postpone their Championship fixtures due to the impact of Storm Amy.
