ANY lingering hopes that Oisín Mullin might return to the Mayo fold in the near future were dashed this morning when news spread that he has put pen to paper to remain in Australia at the Geelong Cats until at least the end of 2027.
The powerful and athletic Kilmaine men moved to Geelong after playing in two All-Ireland finals at just the age of 21, while also earing GAA All Star selection and Young Footballer of the Year in 2020.
After signing with the Cats in October 2021 as a Category B rookie and arriving at the end of 2022, Mullin played six games for Geelong in 2023, followed by 12 matches 2024, including the club’s two finals.
The now 25-year-old Mullin has played 18 games so far this season, initially playing across the half-back line before spending time in the midfield playing on some of the opposition's best players.
Geelong Cats Executive General Manager of Football Andrew Mackie said the club were excited to see Mullin continue his career with the Cats.
“Oisín has shown enormous growth in a short space of time and continues to impress us with his work ethic and willingness to learn,” Mackie said.
“As with all our Irish players, we understand the enormity of the decision to move to Australia, we love having Oisín as part of our program and we can’t wait to see him play an important role for us over the next two years and beyond.”
