Monday’s meeting of the Mayo County Board has the potential to be a monumental one for a myriad of reasons.

Firstly, it is the first meeting of the Executive and club delegates since that May 29 meeting in Knockranny House, where a series of revelations were made about emails surrounding the financial situation were described as ‘vicious and nasty’ by GAA President Jarlath Burns.

The meeting, which will take place in MacHale Park at 8 pm, will be the first in the wake of the decision to relieve Kevin McStay of his duties, which has been described as ‘botched’ and ‘entirely avoidable’.

Here, we’ll run through the agenda and all the points set to be brought to the floor on Monday evening.

The topic that is likely to command the most attention is the management appointment policy. In the wake of the decision to oust Kevin McStay from his position, attention swiftly turned to who would be stepping into the void. There will likely be plenty of interest in just how the Executive will go about this process.

Another item which is likely to garner interest is the topic titled ‘Bohola update’. At present, the proposed development of a €15 million Centre of Excellence in the East of the county on land gifted by UK-based developer and Bohola-raised businessman Bill Durkan is anticipated to include full-sized pitches, training facilities, a stand, and a clubhouse.

Another subject which will get plenty of speaking time is the Mulvey Park story. At present, plans are afoot to construct an artificial facility, although concerns exist exist about whether the site is big enough for a full-sized GAA pitch.

Another topic down for discussion is the senior football review. Ultimately, the goal is to achieve both provincial and national success while developing the fortunes of the Mayo footballers, which has not transpired in recent years.

A review of the performances of the senior hurlers is also on the agenda. Ray Larkin’s men have been showing good signs in recent years, however suffered a shock defeat to Roscommon in the Nickey Rackard Cup final in late May.

The Under-20 footballers' season will be brought to the floor as well. The side, managed by Peadar Gardiner, were successful in clinching the Connacht title in thrilling fashion in Tuam, and have developed some promising stars for the future, but were knocked out of the All-Ireland series in heartbreaking fashion by Louth.

The managerial vacancy at Under-20 hurling level will be discussed, with Brian Finn stepping away following the 2025 campaign.

Another topic on the Clár is a review of the Under-17 footballers, who went on all the way to the All-Ireland semi-final, where they were recently knocked out by Kerry.

The club championships are fast approaching, and they will also be down for discussion.

Updates are also due on the Competitions Control Committee and Bord na nÓg.
