There is set to be no shortage of action around the county this weekend, as Mayo sports aficionados are set for yet another bumper weekend of sport to sink their teeth into.

Here, we’ve compiled a list of five events to pack up the car and head off to. As with every other weekend, there’ll be no want of coverage here, as well as in Tuesday’s edition of The Mayo News.

SFL DIVISION 1A

Breaffy v Knockmore

Breaffy, Saturday at 7pm

This clash of two of Mayo GAA’s heavyweights promises to be an exciting one. Both sides know that a win here could practically ensure that they will contest the league final.

Both Seán Deane and Ray Dempsey know that there is every chance they may face each other further down the line in the race for the Paddy Moclair.

SFL DIVISION 1A

Castlebar Mitchels v Ballina Stephenites

Páirc Josie Munnelly, Saturday at 7pm

This meeting between sides from two of the county’s biggest clubs also looks destined to provide entertainment.

Mitchels may sit top of the pile at present, but a loss here, to a fourth-placed Stephenites side who wouldn’t turn their noses up at a shot at silverware before the championship, would see them at risk of not making the league final.

SFL DIVISION 1B

Mayo Gaels v Garrymore

Mayo Gaels, Saturday at 7pm

In Division 1B, finishing as high as possible is the name of the game before championship fare comes around.

At present, Garrymore are in second and hold the aces. That said, if Mayo Gaels can get a win on Saturday and Claremorris drop the ball in their clash with a relegation-threatened Burrishoole, then they will be in second place going into the last round.

ELVERYS SPORTS SUPER LEAGUE

Westport United v Ballyheane

United Park, Sunday at 2.30pm

Anthony O’Neill’s Covies have had a fantastic league campaign and have secured plenty of results that have caught the eye.

However, their breathing room over the rest of the table has been eradicated, and if Castlebar Celtic win on Saturday, they will be top of the table, putting pressure on United to win.

Ballyheane will be gunning to make Westport's absence from top spot a permanent one, and they showed pedigree in spades in their defeat of Ballyhaunis Town last weekend.

ELVERYS SPORTS SUPER LEAGUE

Manulla v Castlebar Celtic

Carramore, Saturday at 6.30pm

The reigning champions have been eating up the ground to the summit en-route to the top, and should they win on the road, they’ll have returned to the number one position.

Manulla will have designs on halting that, but the 6-1 trimming earlier on in the season means the odds will be stacked against the hosts in this one.
