MAYO will face Dublin in the opening round of the Division 1 Allianz National Football League.
Kevin McStay’s men will clash swords with the Leinster champions on Saturday, January 25 at 7.30pm under lights in Croke Park.
Mayo will then host Galway on February 5 at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park at 3.45 pm.
The Connacht finalists will also face away trips to Armagh and Derry, and will host Donegal, Kerry and Tyrone.
Kevin McStay’s men will be seeking to retain their Division 1 status without Cillian O’Connor, Padraig O’Hora, Michael Plunkett, Conor McStay and James Carr, who have opted out of the senior squad.
McStay is understood to have added a number of new players to the Mayo squad, who are due to resume collective training shortly.
The upcoming National Football League will also feature several rule changes recently approved by delegates at a special GAA Congress.
These include the awarding of two points for kicking the ball over the bar outside a 45-metre arc, one player from each team contesting throw-ins and three players from each side remaining inside their own ‘45 at all times. A countdown clock and hooter - currently operated in ladies intercounty games - will also be introduced.
Ongoing competitions, such as Crossmolina’s upcoming All-Ireland intermediate championship semi-final, will not be affected by the rule changes.
