In Castlebar

Castlebar Mitchels have powered past a Crossmolina team without numerous players who featured for their Connacht title-winning intermediate side.

The Mitchels full-forward line of Gavin Forry, Ryan Gibbons and Calum Filan led the way with each of the trio contributing as the hosts shot five goals in the second half.

The reigning county U-21 A champions dominated throughout the hour against a Crossmolina side without the likes of Niall Coggins, Aaron Coggins and James Maheady.

Castlebar led at the break 0-9 0-5. However, the Mitchels powered on, with Bob Tuohy, Sean Morahan and Gavin Forry impressing the most.

Goals from Gavin Forry, Bob Tuohy, Joe Forry and two from Jake Daly sealed the deal for the reigning champions.

They will look forward to a semi-final clash against a talented Claremorris team in two weeks’ time.

A full report will be carried in Tuesday’s Mayo News.
