Old foes meet again

Mayo senior club championship preview: Garrymore and Knockmore face off in the quarter-final

Old foes meet again

GARRYMORE V KNOCKMORE

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 8PM, GARRYMORE

Two of the most consistent clubs in championship football clash on Saturday night. Knockmore arrive in the Garrymore after a group stage campaign which illustrated their finest fighting qualities. The men from the banks of Lough Conn have been blitzed by injuries to big players, particularly Shane McHale and Connell Dempsey who are expected to be long term absentees. Kieran King is also struggling to get a healthy run in the team and he’s not the only man in sick-bay coming into this pivotal clash.

Garrymore love hosting big games in their beloved patch of green. Their impressive facilities will be packed on Saturday night and the home side will be bouncing across the ground. They have fine players all over the field with Darren Quinn and the Nally bothers Shane and Trevor kicking the scores while Enda Hession and Caolan Crowe lead a back division which will test the prowess of Aiden Orme, Charlie Bourke, Pearse Ruttledge and Kevin McLoughlin. There won’t be much between them.

VERDICT: GARRYMORE
