In Kilmovee

NO amount of Ballycroy determination could outdo the mortal damage done by Kilmovee substitute Gavin Duffy's winning goal in extra time after a game which was level six times and saw more than 20 wides.

The goals won it in the end for Kilmovee, who were put to the pins of their collars by a Ballycroy team whose inaccuracy was their fatal flaw.

For long periods there was no telling who was going to progress to the last four.

Inspired by Rory Conway and Brendan Conway, Ballycroy went in 0-8 1-4 up at half-time, with Kilmovee's goal coming from full-forward Seán Horan.

Thanks to the leadership of Cathal Horan, the hosts improved in the second half and landed a second goal through the aforementioned Horan.

Ballycroy were beset by inaccuracy, with their only score from play in the second half coming when Rory Conway landed a beauty level the gmae in the last moments of normal time.

The West Mayo men tried but failed to land a winner in injury time before playing out a scoreless period of extra time.

All changed utterly after the resumption when Peter Horan dropped it down on top of Gavin Duffy, whose goal ultimatley sent Kilmovee into the championship quarter-finals and sent Ballycroy packing after a valiant effort.
