Andy Moran has joined the Monaghan backroom team
FORMER Mayo footballer Andy Moran has joined up with the Monaghan senior team.
New manager Gabriel Bannigan has brought the Ballaghaderreen native into his backroom team along with John McElhone and Damien Freeman after being ratified for a three-year term to be reviewed after two years, according to RTÉ.
Moran spent three years in charge of the Leitrim senior footballers before stepping down earlier this year.
In 2024, he guided them to a Division 4 National Football League final against Laois, having been dumped out of the Connacht championship by New York the previous season.
He also took charge of the Leitrim U-20 that pulled off a shock win over Mayo in the Connacht U-20 championship.
The 2017 Footballer of the Year had been tipped to potentially join the Mayo senior backroom team after stepping down as Leitrim manager.
He has joined a Monaghan side that will compete outside of Division 2 for the first time since 2015.
