Moy Davitts 5-5

In Ballintubber

A Moy Davitts team that kicked two points from play left it late to kick a winning insurance goal to see off Ballintubber this evening.

Despite going 1-4 to 0-0 up in the first ten minutes, the concession of five goals throughout the game cost the hosts dearly on an evening when they were without county players Cillian O'Connor and Michael Plunkett.

But Moy Davitts gained more possession as the game went on and conjured two very well-worked goals from Conor Reid and former county player Brian Reape.

Jason Gibbons got ‘Tubber’s only goal in the fourth minute as the home side went at the break leading 1-8 to 2-2.

The second half produced three goals and a sending-off as Brian Reape again struck the net for the Moysiders and saw another goal chance blocked on the line.

Ballintubber went a man down when David McHale was dismissed on a red card before a frantic final quarter where the Abbeysiders briefly went in front before Cian McHale struck back with Moy Davitts’ fourth goal.

The sides were deadlocked again before Reape put them a point up with a 61st-minute free. The ex-Mayo footballer sealed the deal when he set up his brother, Colm, for their fifth and final goal.
