Ballintubber GAA donated 3,500 Euro to the Cancer Fund for Children
Ballintubber GAA have made a donation towards a facility that will provide short stays to children with cancer and their families in the West of Ireland.
The club have presented a sum of €3,500 to Cancer Fund For Children, who are currently constructing the Daisy Lodge facility in Cong.
Ballintubber fundraised for Daisy Lodge by donating all of the proceeds from its June 16 lotto draw towards Cancer Fund For Children.
Ballintubber GAA club officers presented a cheque to Mary McHugh Murphy, Connacht Regional Fundraiser for Cancer Fund for Children, after their recent lotto draw in the Drum Inn in Clogher.
Also present were Jacinta Maxwell and Majella Loftus sisters of the late Fergal Loftus, in whose memory they have been fundraising for Daisy Lodge through the Climb For Fergal appeal.
Patrick Barrett, Cathaoirleach of Ballintubber GAA, thanked all those involved in fundraising for the Daisy Lodge facility.
“We were delighted to support this worthy project and on behalf of the club I would like to thank everyone who played our lotto in support of Daisy Lodge,” said Barrett.
“I would also particularly like to thank the Loftus family, who have done tremendous work in fundraising for the project through Climb For Fergal.”
The Loftus family expressed their gratitude to Ballintubber GAA for the generous donation to their event.
They also thanked the committee and members who helped them fundraise and sell lotto tickets over the entire weekend, and to Corrigans Costcutters in Ballintubber to give permission to sell outside their premises.
The family also thanked all those who attended and purchased lotto tickets at matches in Ray Prendergast Memorial Park, Clogher, over the weekend.
They have said they have been ‘completely overwhelmed’ with the response to ‘Climb For Fergal’, which has so far raised over €23,000 for Cancer Fund For Children.
