THE Mayo ladies have been handed a tough assignment after being drawn to face Armagh in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final.
Liam McHale’s side face an away trip to the Ulster women, who enjoy home advantage after topping their respective championship group. Mayo finished second in their group after losing to Dublin and beating Kildare - who lost both their championship games.
Mayo’s last meeting with Armagh saw them lose 2-8 to 2-9 at home on a day when Aimee Macken scored 1-5 for the Orchard County.
Armagh subsequently went on to win their first-ever Division 1 league title when they defeated Kerry by three points.
The sides’ last championship meeting ended in a 2-10 to 1-11 home win for Armagh in last year’s group stages during Michael Moyles’ tenure as Mayo manager
Kerry, Meath, Cork, Dublin, Galway and Waterford have also qualified for the last eight of the senior championship.
The All-Ireland quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of July 6/7. Full fixture details have yet to be announced.
