MAYO manager Kevin McStay has poured cold water on regular updates on the injury status of Mayo players.
McStay was speaking after confirming that Ballaghadereen defender David McBrien was withdrawn at half-time after he ‘tightened’ his hamstring against Roscommon.
Mayo GAA confirmed on the Monday following Mayo’s win over Cavan that team captain Paddy Durcan had injured his anterior cruciate ligament.
When asked by The Mayo News if injury updates would be forthcoming in future for all players, McStay explained that Mayo GAA released a statement on Durcan’s injury as it was ‘a serious injury, in many times career-ending.
“If I was doing that, [providing regular injury updates] and the rumour machine down in Mayo, I might as well go full-time medical bulletins, I’d have one out every ten minutes,” said McStay.
