LONG-serving Fianna Fáil councillor Annie May Reape has been elected to Mayo County Council for the seventh time.
Cllr Reape, who was first elected to the local authority in 1991, was re-elected once again after surpassing the quota of 1,956 on the ninth count.
The first and only female Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council joins poll-toppers Cllr John O'Hara (Fine Gael) and Cllr Mark Duffy (Independent) on Ballina Municipal District Council, where three seats remain to be filled.
Joe Faughnan (Independent), Cllr Jarlath Munnelly (Fine Gael), Cllr Michael Loftus and David Alexander (both Fianna Fáil) are all in contention for the final three seats, with Mr Faughnan currently leading the way.
The Knockmore native is aiming to take the seat vacated by long-serving local councillor Séamus Weir, who has retired after 25 years in office.
