Fond tributes pour following the passing of Ballina businessman

An abundance of warm tributes have been flooding social media and rip.ie following the passing of Rory Quinn of Bridge Street, Ballina

Rory died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Tuesday, April 7.

Rory was predeceased by his father, Seamus, his mother Brenda, and his brother Micheál.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Maria, his daughter Jane (Jim), his siblings Donnachd, Oisín, Sinéad, Daragh, and Neassa, father-in-law Tony, mother-in-law Moya, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, his many friends, the girls in the shop, and loyal customers.

Ballina RFC were among the many paying tributes to Rory, who was previously a back-row player for the club.

“Rory Quinn - a man with a great zest for life and people has passed away, and the world is in a much poorer place.

“Our deep and sincere condolences to Maria and Jane, and all who loved Rory. His passing leaves a void, but his memory, his love of life, and his indomitable spirit will never fade.”

Rory Quinn Jewellers posted on their Facebook, paying tribute to the successful business owner.

“My wonderful Pop passed away yesterday. We love you so much. The shop will remain closed until next Tuesday.”

Rory will repose at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina (F26 V274) on Friday evening, April 10, from 4:30pm until 6:30pm. 

The funeral will arrive for the Requiem Mass at St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, on Saturday morning, April 11, at 11:30am, followed by burial in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina via Bridge Street, Ballina. 

Rory’s Funeral Mass will be streamed on www.ballinaparish.org.
