Mayo Roads Policing were on Patrol on Tuesday evening on a busy and wet N5 near Bohola, when they encounter this agricultural vehicle up ahead.
There were no working side lamps, rear lamps, stop lamps, reflective rear markings on its trailer and no flashing beacons making it barely visible to other road users.
On speaking with the driver the beacons were in working order once he turned them on but the same cant be said for the rear/side/ stop lamps or reflective markings resulting in this driver receiving a fixed charge penalty notice.

Flashing beacons are an important safety device, as they alert road users that a tractor is ahead. This can be seen in the photo once he turn on the flashing beacons.
A reminder to the owners of agricultural tractors that they must be fitted with a working, flashing amber/orange beacon, which must be switched on while operating on a public road.
Once you are on the public road, you are part of a shared environment where good vehicle lighting protects you and everyone around you, especially during low light conditions.
