Love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him. That’s Eddie Hobbs. He is always full of innate enthusiasm, brimming with confidence and humour. His ‘Rip Off Republic’ series on RTÉ in 2005 was magnificent. He also presented other series on RTÉ, including ‘Show Me The Money’, another success.
Hobbs has had a few questionable outings over the years regarding financial advice, and he got some decisions and advice wrong. For a short while he was President of Renua, the political party.
What many people do not know about him is the number of times he has challenged the State and its institutions over perceived unfair practices that adversely affect citizens.
Hobbs successfully complained to the regulator about the treatment of client files in the Taylor Group. In 1996, he rightly claimed the government-supported Irish Federation Renumeration Agreement broke competition law. He also successfully challenged then Finance Minister McCreevy on tax codes.
Over the past number of years, Eddie Hobbs has been beyond the pale of the national media, mainly due to the causes he espouses. They don’t fit in with the national media/government agenda. He is seen by some as ‘on the fringe’. He has joined the likes of journalist/author John Waters. Other noted ‘fringe’ people were academic Raymond Crotty and writer Desmond Fennell. (Incidentally, a seminar on Fennell’s life and works is taking place in Dublin’s Sandymount Hotel on Friday, June 14.)
On May 20, Eddie Hobbs launched The Killarney Declaration outside the Global Economic Summit in the Kerry town. It’s a bit like the 1916 Proclamation, an attempt to ‘reclaim’ Ireland for the Irish. Check the website 1215tribes.com/declaration for full details.
Those who have dismissed Eddie Hobbs will not be surprised by this launch. The thing about Eddie is that he has a habit of ‘telling it like it is, as he sees it’.
The recurring message contained in the Declaration is ‘We See You’, and it is directed at the Government and the World Health Organisation (WHO), which is attempting to introduce a global treaty on pandemic preparedness that would take precedence over national law. The treaty proposal has already been rejected by Britain, the Netherlands, the Slovak Republic and a number of US Republican Senators.
The following are selected paragraph extracts from the Killarney Declaration:
“We see the instrument of control revealed as you now attempt to double down; ensnaring freedom further through Digital ID surveillance passports that will hold vaccine records, personal carbon limits and spending restrictions controlled by remotely programmable Central Bank Digital Currency. We know these controls are being discussed at this globalist summit…
“We see you through the wider agenda your attempts to subvert the bonds of homogenous society and family itself; the flooding of Ireland through unrestricted refugees advanced by the UN, the attempt to redefine family itself, rejected so emphatically by the Irish People, the proposal to restrict free speech through so-called Hate Speech laws and the distorted sexualisation and misgendering of our young children through UN education ideologies. We see you attempt to shatter the foundations of society, preparing it for its subjugation to your bio-digital technocracy, the very fulcrum of your 21st century totalitarian ambitions…
“We see you in the moves to bring representative democracy to an end by replacing it with Stakeholder Capitalism. This is a model of centralised anti-democratic global governance advanced by the unelected World Economic Forum, which craves fusing state power, NGOs and corporate power, to the growing global power of unaccountable and unelected supranational institutions like the WHO and the UN…
“We see the Irish government cheering on the WHO while operating a hidden shadow programme for government which is largely founded on policies originating from these globalist institutions and whose impact is destroying social cohesion and stripping the Irish people of their rights, freedoms and sovereignty.”
The ‘conspiracy theory’ charge is all too easy to level at those who think differently. Burning buildings is intolerable, as is threatening the social cohesion of communities. Speaking about a retired professor, a colleague noted that he was ‘always right, but for the wrong reason’. There’s a touch of that in those who have been sidelined by the mainstream media. Perhaps some truth lies somewhere in the middle of all conspiracy theories.
