The Claremorris St Patrick’s Day parade has been moved forward to Sunday, March 16 to avoid a clash with the Hogan Cup final the day after.

St Colman’s College will be looking to make history in Croke Park on Ireland’s national holiday and capture the All-Ireland Schools’ Championship for the first time since the seventies.

In order to allow people to be at both the celebrations at the parade and the potential celebrations in Croke Park, a decision has been made to reschedule the St Patrick’s Day festival to the day before.

For the Chairperson of the Parade Committee, Nina Pilbrow, the decision was an obvious one.

“We’re absolutely thrilled for the boys of St Patrick’s Day and want to ensure our community can fully support both events,” she said.

“By moving the parade to Sunday, we’re creating an incredible weekend of celebration, anticipation, and community spirit.”
