A series of events are set to take place during the lead-up to Christmas

Mayo town unveils Christmas 2025 festivities and community initiatives

Castlebar Chamber has unveiled festivities and community initiatives for Christmas 2025, including enhanced Christmas lighting, festive events, business and community initiatives, and new support for start-up enterprises.

Castlebar Chamber and Castlebar Municipal District have secured funding under the Community Recognition Fund to enhance the town’s Christmas lighting scheme. Locals are encouraged to watch the lights being switched on Friday, November 28.

A series of Christmas-themed events has been confirmed, including:

  • Friday, 28 November – Christmas Lights Switch-On, Market Square
  • Saturday, 29 November – Shop Local Campaign
  • Thursday 12 – Saturday 14 December – Outdoor Christmas Movies, Collectors Lane
  • Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 December – Christmas Markets, Collectors Lane & Bridge Street (1pm–8pm), featuring local traders and entertainment

The Chamber states that the programme aims to encourage local shopping and create increased activity in the town centre during the Christmas season.

As part of its ongoing support for local initiatives, Castlebar Chamber has several upcoming events it is either supporting or organising:

  • Saturday, 15 November – Future Proofing Mayo Communities, Mulranny Park Hotel
  • Monday, 17 November – Sunflower Children’s Hospice Launch, TF Royal Hotel & Theatre
  • Thursday, 21 November – International Men’s Day Event, MD Performance & Therapy, Barcastle Industrial Estate

These events span community development, social support, and business engagement.

The Chamber has also launched a new monthly start-up support initiative. The first session will take place on Friday,  November 21 and will offer free 45-minute one-to-one meetings with Chamber President Maria Staunton, who also serves as Manager of the ATU Innovation Hub. The initiative is intended for individuals exploring business ideas or seeking guidance on enterprise development. Sessions can be booked online at:https://calendly.com/hello-castlebarchamber/30min
